The Countryside Fire Protection District responded to a reported fire at a home near Route 45 and Oakwood Road in Indian Creek around 9 PM on Wednesday night. Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke and flames coming from the rear of the house. Lincolnshire-Riverwoods sent a squad, while Mundelein and Libertyville dispatched quints as the alarm was upgraded to a full structure fire. Later, a Box Alarm was called to bring in additional companies to cover the affected area and support the local stations.
The fire, which reportedly started in the basement and spread to the first floor, was quickly brought under control. All residents were safely evacuated without injury, though a dog did not survive the incident. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Larry Shapiro arrived after the fire had been extinguished and submitted a few photos capturing the scene. A small gallery of images from the incident can be viewed HERE.
