Qilu Petrochemical successfully developed a novel hydrogen production catalyst with obvious effects

The two projects, “Development and Application of Pre-reforming Catalysts for Refinery Gases” and “Development and Application of Catalysts for Low-Temperature Adiabatic Conversion of Natural Gas” under the leadership of the Research Institute of Sinopec Qilu Company, have passed the technical appraisal organized by Sinopec Corp. a few days ago. The new types of hydrogen production catalysts developed in the two projects will have a significant effect on reducing the cost of hydrogen production, optimizing the operation of equipment, and increasing energy savings.

The refinery gas pre-reforming catalyst is applicable to the hydrogen production and synthesis gas production process using refinery gas as raw material, pre-reforming process, and has been used for the first time in the hydrogen production plant of Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao Branch. The test results show that the catalyst has excellent activity and stability, good resistance to fluctuations in operating conditions, and significant energy saving and consumption reducing effects.

The natural gas cryogenic adiabatic conversion catalyst is mainly applicable to natural gas as raw material, adopting a new process of adiabatic conversion and steam conversion in series, and the application results in the newly-built hydrogen production device of Tahe Branch indicate that the catalyst has obvious energy saving and consumption reducing effects and is beneficial to Extend the life of the conversion catalyst.
