The Chlor-Alkali Association plans to establish a chloroacetic acid professional committee

The reporter learned from the 2006 chloroacetic acid industry development forum held in Nanjing from December 7th to 8th that in order to strengthen the management and self-discipline of the chloroacetic acid industry, it led the industry out of disorderly competition due to the rapid expansion of production capacity and the price continued to fall. With the predicament of sharp declines in corporate profits, China Chlor-Alkali Industry Association will soon establish a chloroacetic acid professional committee.

At present, China's chloroacetic acid industry has entered a period of rapid development, the speed of new installations in various regions is accelerating, and production capacity has continued to expand. According to China Chlor-Alkali Network, the production capacity of chloroacetic acid in China has exceeded 550,000 tons in 2006, and the actual output has exceeded 330,000 tons. In 2007, it will increase the capacity by about 100,000 tons. However, the recent rising raw material prices and fluctuations in the downstream market demand make the pressure of market competition increase. At present, the price of chloroacetic acid in China has approached the cost, and the living environment of enterprises is facing challenges. It is reported that the overall technical level of chloroacetic acid production in China is still at a relatively low level, and the traditional sulfur production process exceeds 83%. Due to the backward production process and low barriers to entry, most of the new projects are below 10,000 tons, and the industry concentration is low. In addition, there is no unified organization and the industry management is chaotic.

In response to these problems, representatives at the forum expressed their eagerness to establish the chloroacetic acid professional committee. They also discussed related issues for the establishment of an industry organization and planned to establish a chloroacetic acid professional committee at the next chloroacetic acid industry conference.
