German chemical production increased 10% year-on-year in the third quarter

The German chemical industry association VCI recently stated that due to strong export growth, German chemicals' production in the third quarter increased by a significant 10% year-on-year, but only increased by 0.5% compared to the second quarter. The slower-than-annual growth in output reflects that the domestic market demand is still not strong. In addition, the prices of chemicals also remained basically stable, rising by only 0.6% from the prices in the second quarter; however, they were up by 4% compared with the same period of last year. VCI expects that the growth rate of chemical production in Germany will remain sluggish for the rest of the year. The annual output growth rate will reach 11%, mainly due to the strong growth in the first half of the year.
