Rubbish fire in Wheeling, 9-25-15

This just came in from Larry Shapiro: --- There was a pretty big fire earlier today in Wheeling caused by a rubbish fire at 1786W Hintz Road. It’s the same location where they’re currently tearing down an old shopping center. The Wheeling Engine 23 team really stepped up, using their deck gun to tackle the blaze. Interestingly, Engine 42 also got involved, positioning themselves from a different angle and emptying their water tanks through their own deck gun. Check out this video I found—it gives a great perspective on how they managed the situation. (Embedding the video here for reference.) ![](https://via.placeholder.com/640x480) And here are some incredible shots taken by Larry Shapiro himself. You can see the firefighters working hard to control the thick black smoke and flames coming from the rubbish fire. ![](https://via.placeholder.com/600x400) *Caption: Fire trucks battling heavy smoke with their deck guns.* ![](https://via.placeholder.com/600x400) *Caption: A firefighter opening a hydrant to support the operation.* ![](https://via.placeholder.com/600x400) *Caption: Firefighters operating deck guns from multiple angles to douse the flames.* ![](https://via.placeholder.com/600x400) *Caption: Thick plumes of smoke rising as crews work tirelessly to contain the fire.* ![](https://via.placeholder.com/600x400) *Caption: Another view showing the intense effort required to manage such a large fire.* For more images and details, head over to [shapirophotography.net](http://shapirophotography.net). It’s always impressive to see how quickly these professionals respond under pressure. Props to everyone involved for their quick thinking and teamwork!
