This morning, firefighters from the Deerfield-Bannockburn department responded to reports of smoke billowing from the second floor of a two-story home located at 1131 Osterman Avenue. Upon arrival, initial units confirmed the presence of smoke and escalated the situation to an active fire response. Although the fire initially appeared to have originated on the first floor, it was swiftly contained by the dedicated team.
The firefighting effort involved multiple units, including Deerfield-Bannockburn's Engine 20, Squad 19, Truck 20, Battalion 20, along with support from Highland Park’s Battalion 33 and Truck 33. Additional assistance came from Northbrook’s Battalion 11, Ambulance 11, and Engine 10, as well as Lincolnshire-Riverwoods’ Ambulance 52, Engine 52, and 5201. Lake Forest also sent their Truck 421 to the scene. It was truly a collaborative effort among neighboring departments.
I managed to snap some photos during the incident. You can see Deerfield-Bannockburn's Truck 20 and Battalion 20 in action, with firefighters working tirelessly to control the flames. Larry Shapiro captured some incredible shots, showing Engine 20 and Squad 19 in full swing. Tim Olk also got some great images of the aftermath, where firefighters were seen removing debris and conducting overhaul operations.
One particularly striking image is that of Deputy Chief Ray Larson, who was on-site coordinating the efforts. His calm demeanor was evident even amidst the chaos. Other photos include a firefighter wielding a hose line and another carrying a ground ladder—both demonstrating the skill and precision required in such situations.
