Hey everyone, I’ve got some fresh updates for you regarding the fleet over at Peotone Fire Department. Things have been moving along, and there are a few new additions as well as some changes to existing rigs. Here's what's been happening:
First off, **Squad 15** has quite the history. Originally built as a 1952 American LaFrance (ALF) tiller, it went through several transformations over the years. In 1985, the tractor unit was sent to Pierce, where they swapped out the cab for a Pierce Arrow 4-door model. By 1995, Ideal Beverage got involved, extending the tractor frame and adding a box. Finally, in 2000, Peotone purchased the rig from Huber Heights and sent it to RPI for a fresh paint job and additional modifications. It’s now based in X-Huber Heights, Ohio.
Moving on to **Truck 15**, it’s stationed in Fountain Valley, California. Meanwhile, **Tanker 14** calls New Vernon, New Jersey its home base.
Unfortunately, the **Ambulance 14**, which used to be a 2001 International/Horton combo, has been decommissioned. That rig had served us well but has since been retired.
On a brighter note, Peotone recently acquired a brand-new **Ambulance 14**, a 2012 Ford F-450 4x4 with a Type I body by Horton. It’s a solid addition to our fleet and will serve us for years to come. Thanks to Dennis McGuire, Jr., we’ve got some great photos of the new ambulance, along with a couple of other vehicles.
Check out the images below. The first one is Squad 15, looking sharp after all those upgrades. And if you're wondering about our chief vehicle, Chief 2715 is running strong with a 2008 Ford Explorer.
