**How to Choose a ZHME Winch for Your Vehicle**
Not sure which winch is right for you? The best way is to calculate the required line pull for your application. Multiply your vehicle's Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) by 1.5 – this gives an estimate of the winch size you need. Typically, the first layer of rope on the drum represents the maximum load the winch can handle. Each additional layer reduces the rated line pull by about 10%. So for a 9,500lb winch, the second layer would be 8,550lbs, the third 7,700lbs, and so on. Uneven spooling of the rope can also reduce pulling power, so always re-spool your winch before heading out.
