Liao shut down nearly 700 homes

The Liaoning Province Environmental Protection Bureau recently announced that in 2007, Liaoning Province shut down 699 air pollution companies and could reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by 49,000 tons.
As an old industrial base, Liaoning Province has a heavy chemical industry with a heavy pollution load. By 2010, the emissions of sulfur dioxide in Liaoning Province will be reduced by 12% as compared with the end of the “Tenth Five-Year Plan” and the chemical oxygen demand will be reduced by 12.9%. Liaoning Province will continue to promote pollution reduction through control increments this year, and will not approve projects that do not adopt advanced domestic cleaner production processes.
