Rubbish fire in Chicago, 7-9-19

I just came across some photos shared by Chi-Town Fire Photos on a recent incident involving Engine 84. According to the post, there was a massive pile of tires engulfed in flames near 300 East 56th Street on July 9, 2019. It must have been quite the sight, with thick plumes of black smoke rising into the night sky. Here’s one of the photos they shared. You can see the intense orange glow of the fire illuminating the surrounding area. It's impressive how quickly those tires caught fire and how intense the blaze became. The heat must have been overwhelming for anyone nearby. There were a few more shots as well. In this one, you get a closer look at the scale of the fire. It’s clear that firefighters had their work cut out for them to contain such a large-scale tire fire. These kinds of fires can be particularly tricky because the heat causes the rubber to burn fiercely, and it releases toxic fumes that pose additional risks. And here’s another image showing Engine 84 parked nearby, ready to tackle the situation. I imagine the crew worked tirelessly to extinguish the flames and prevent the fire from spreading further. Tire fires aren’t just a hazard locally; they can also impact air quality over wider areas if not managed properly. It’s always fascinating to see how Chicago’s firefighters handle different types of emergencies. Kudos to Engine 84 and the rest of the team for their quick response and hard work in challenging conditions. It’s moments like these that remind us of the importance of having skilled professionals on standby around the clock.
