Honeywell Announces High-Precision Online Paper Structure Analyzer

April 3, 2006 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) has launched the FotoForm sensor, a cutting-edge online measurement tool designed to analyze paper structures using advanced image analysis technology. This innovative solution offers paper manufacturers a more efficient and precise way to evaluate their products, significantly improving quality control processes and reducing production time. Paper structure plays a crucial role in determining the quality of various paper grades. Factors such as fiber blending, refining, drying, pressing, and texture all influence the final product. However, traditional single-point or scan-based measurement systems only provide limited insights. These methods can detect changes in the paper structure but fail to identify the specific factors that have changed, limiting their usefulness for detailed process optimization. Honeywell’s high-precision FotoForm sensor addresses this gap by delivering comprehensive data on multiple structural features, including variability, bright spots, dark areas, MD and CD floc sizes, and their shapes. Leveraging advanced image processing and analytics, the sensor captures multiple characteristics simultaneously, providing independent and reliable data that supports accurate and flexible analysis. The sensor is designed to operate reliably in challenging paper machine environments. It can handle speeds up to 2,200 meters per minute while maintaining high accuracy. It automatically adjusts for different basis weights, ensuring consistent performance even at up to 600 gsm. Its intelligent algorithms also compensate for issues like uneven lighting, dirt, and dust, enhancing measurement reliability. The FotoForm sensor integrates seamlessly with Honeywell’s DaVinci® system. Once images and feature data are captured, operators can send the information to the server for real-time analysis. The DaVinci system then displays the latest composition image, allowing operators to monitor and adjust the process efficiently. It also stores historical data for future reference and research. Paul Orzeske, Vice President and General Manager of Honeywell Process Solutions EMEA, said, “This new solution marks a significant step forward in our DaVinci product line for paper and pulp customers. As the only sensor offering versatile and detailed analysis, it enables faster, more accurate quality control, giving users a real edge in the competitive market.”

Desander

Desander is the second phase solids control equipment in drilling operation. Generally, there are a set of hydrocyclones in 8", 10" or 12" in the desander, which mainly used for separating the solid particles sized in 47~76μm from the drilling fluids. The desander cleaner mainly consists of Shale Shaker, hydrocyclones, distribution manifold, and electric control cabinet and desander removes the abrasive solids from the drilling fluids which cannot be removed by shale shaker.
