Northfield basement fire 9-19-11

Late Monday evening, the Northfield Fire Department received an emergency call regarding a basement fire at a residence located on the 2300 block of Burr Oak. According to reports from the Chicago Tribune, two children and their babysitters managed to escape the house safely before dialing 911. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered two cats inside the home and promptly provided them with medical assistance. I happened to be nearby when this incident occurred and was able to capture some images of the scene for documentation purposes. It was quite an intense situation, but thankfully, everyone involved—both human and animal—seemed to have made it through unscathed. Attached is one photograph showing firefighters gathered outside the affected property after successfully extinguishing the flames. In another shot, you can see paramedics tending to the rescued felines who had been exposed to smoke. There’s also a third image featuring Winnetka’s fire chief observing as the paramedics continue their care for one of the cats. It’s always heartening to witness such coordinated efforts between emergency responders during challenging circumstances like these. Safety truly comes first, and it’s reassuring to know there are professionals dedicated to protecting our communities in moments of crisis. If anyone has any further questions or concerns about this event, feel free to reach out—I’ll do my best to provide more details based on what I observed firsthand.
