Late Friday evening on January 22, 2021, emergency services in Arlington Heights responded to reports of a house fire at 302 Ivy Lane around 9 PM. Engine 4 was the first to arrive on the scene, quickly reporting flames visible through the roof, a second-floor window, and along the siding. As they advanced a hose into the building, additional units began arriving to support the initial response. Arlington Heights Engine 2, typically the second engine for this district, was occupied with another assignment, so Palatine Engine 83 stepped in and positioned itself across the street at a hydrant. Meanwhile, Buffalo Grove Tower 25, the first ladder truck to arrive, set up operations directly in front of the address.
Firefighters worked swiftly, deploying three separate lines to combat the blaze, which was brought under control in less than ten minutes. The rapid response and coordinated efforts of multiple agencies ensured that the situation was managed efficiently, minimizing potential damage and risks to life and property.
Attached is a photograph taken by Larry Shapiro, capturing the intensity of the situation as crews worked diligently to extinguish the flames. For those interested in viewing more images from the incident, a gallery has been provided below featuring additional photos from the scene.
