Late Friday evening, on January 22, 2021, just before 9 PM, reports of a house fire brought emergency responders from Arlington Heights to 302 Ivy Lane. Engine 4 was the first unit to arrive, quickly reporting flames shooting through the roof, a second-floor window, and even spreading to the siding of the home. As they advanced a hose into the building, additional units began arriving. Arlington Heights Engine 2, which typically serves this area, was tied up on another call, so Palatine Engine 83 stepped in and positioned itself at a hydrant across the street. Meanwhile, Buffalo Grove's Tower 25, the first ladder truck to reach the scene, set up operations in front of the address.
Firefighters worked swiftly, deploying three lines to combat the blaze, which was brought under control in less than ten minutes. The quick response undoubtedly helped prevent further damage and ensured the safety of everyone involved.
